Just had to say the word ‘hell’ in my blog.
I plan my Saturdays in my head all week. Here was this week’s plan: start the day with a cup of coffee, chat online with a few friends, jump into the shower, get my photos ready for Monday’s scrapbook club class, the rest of the day of working on my assignment due on Wednesday at university, excepting reminding Scott not to nag the hell out of us. Saturdays are a ‘no-nag zone’ I keep saying.
Well, had the coffee, chatted with Dana and Colleen, my sister called and said she couldn’t come after all to take over with Mom this Saturday because she had a sore throat, jumped into the shower, didn’t get a thing done on my assignment, and well, Scott forgot about the ‘no-nag zone’ a bazillion times. Did get my photos done for Monday’s scrapbook club class, but have to reprint one. Better to find that out today, than on Monday. Really don’t mind seeing Mom, in fact, I miss her terribly and wonder how her day is when I do take my Saturdays away from visiting the hospital, but frankly, I plan the Saturday away from the hospital to recoup and be ready to take care of her needs the rest of the week. I figure I’ll be useful longer for her if I take a recharge day. Also gives me a full day for my schoolwork, never mind housework. I mean it, never mind housework!
Had a pleasant visit with Mom, poor thing is a bit confused for sure. That is distressing, poor dear. Hope she’s moved upstairs soon and can get to the job of adjusting to her new digs while we await the nursing home for her. I talked to the hospital security guard this evening, he thinks the virus upstairs is contained, so maybe Mom will be moving soon. Boy, is security ever tight right now while they battle that gasto-intestinal bug on that floor. Security guards all over, enforced handwashing, and then they give you the evil eye right at the stroke of the end of visiting hours. Sheesh, the one guy is so big, we went running with one look only. Especially since he didn’t even smile when I made a joke about the evil eye … boy I put my foot in it at times!
Scott’s buddy Murray had a re-dedication for his youth centre, Scott wanted to pop in there for a few hours, so we went over to the centre after afternoon hospital visiting hours. Was a pleasant afternoon. The new locale is much brighter and cleaner than the last one they had for the kids. Murray is happy. Listened to him and a lady named Colleen play and sing a few songs, Scott played and sang a few songs, then I sang a couple with him. Left around 6 o’clock, then popped into Independent for a PILE of groceries. Was after 7 by the time our shopping was finished, so popped in to see Mom for a few more minutes. She was sleeping soundly. Kissed her goodnight, she stirred and realized I was there as I was leaving with her laundry. Gave her another kiss goodnight, and she smiled.
Going to work on the last two pages of Mom’s scrapbook at soon as I post this. Wish me luck!!!!! Maybe I’ll reach my goal of finally finishing it!!!
Oh, I see I’ve used the word hell in my heading, and twice in the blog! Tee hee.
