Drove home from Brockville this morning. Bit of weather until after Kingston. So, of course, I had to make a stop in Kingston at Michael’s to wait out a bit of the weather.
Got into Trenton at noon, just in time to return the car. Silly little Yaris, have to hang onto the steering wheel whenever a truck passes on the highway. The buses are worse, just about suck you under their wheels!
Visited Mom in Trenton hospital. A bit confused, but coping remarkably well. Had some sweet student nurses come in tonight when we called to put Mom to bed. Poor Mom had soiled, and the day staff hadn’t prepared for that with any protection. The students called an experienced nurse in to help. They removed her clothes and placed on the floor. The experienced nurse was disgusted with the whole thing, and very rudely and condenscendly said, “just stuff that in the closet! ” (of course Mom’s clean clothes are there, and it would not have been appreciated if soiled clothing was dumped on top). I was not very happy to overhear that from out in the hall and entered. “I’ll get a bag and take that home to wash for her!” I hope that awful nurse was embarassed that I overheard. There are people who are not deserving to have someone as dear as Mom cross their paths. I’d like to see that nurse’s reaction if her loved one was sneered at like she had sneered. It’s not as though Mom could help it. I repeated the story to Scott when he arrived, and I hope that nurse overheard it.
Oh yes, the overrated bit…
We went to the Boathouse to eat. Ordered the Captain’s Feast. Awful. Mush for battered fish. Very hard, very crusty breading on the shrimp and the scallops. It’s a popular place, but I don’t think I’ll go again willingly for a meal.
