School days in Florenville and Marville
Been sorting through old photos of Mom’s and my own while sorting through her estate. These are a few that I found and scrapbooked using Sassafrass products (my new favourite find). This is a Vicki Boutin design. I attended her class at Scrapbook Academy on June 13 this year. One of 3 layouts.
Coincidentally was contacted by Rob Zimmer whose family was in Marville with our family in the 60s. So good to hear from him. He and my twin Gary were good friends back in 2nd and 3rd grade. His sister Cheryl had contacted me a few months back, which I was glad of!
Will write again soon, getting very very very sleepy.
Helped serve the food at the grade 8 grad dance at Mary’s school. Her class was invited (grade 7), and they asked the grade 7 parents to volunteer to donate food and serve. I don’t like to get into their space at a certain age, so I wait for an invitation from them. Anyway, she asked, no parents had been volunteering. Had a lot of fun. Met a couple of moms, pleasant ladies. Spoke to the teachers and principal. Everyone loves Mary. Why not, she is freaking awesome.
Chris is awesome too. Really getting into his music, listening and playing. Teaching himself guitar. Here’s a layout I did of him from photos I took at ENSS Music Night on 14 May 2009. I can never get a good photo of him playing his baritone. Always tucked in the back, on the opposite of wherever I choose to sit, huge baritone blocking all from me and my camera. Well, this music night, I managed to get half of his face peeking out. Sat in the right spot. Also a few good full on face shots.
Just playing my baritone
This layout was an exercise Friday night at Croptopia. Each participant was required to bring one 5 x 7 photo of themself for it. The same papers were used by each participant for their layout, design was individual.
Paper background is actually white. Should have adjusted my white balance on this!
Finished this layout while at Croptopia May 2009. About all I got done that weekend, except a one page layout of myself that each of us was directed to do Friday night. Had to leave after supper Saturday because I was flying out to Victoria the next day for a two week Public Affairs course.
We are hosting a birthday party for Mary today. Her friend is moving away, so she wanted to have it early. Not sure how many are coming. She invited 30 or so, but no one seems to know what RSVP means anymore.
Routine Saturday other than that. Been busy at work. Always seems to be a big crunch and flurry of unexpected activity just when we are getting ready to push the next journal out the door to print.
Haven’t had much time for scrapping. Lots to do at Mom’s. The house is listed. I put out a lot of stuff at the curb each Thursday morning. And really, she was not a pack rat, I am lucky. I know how much worse it could be. This is busy enough, and I thank her for regularly purging and getting rid of stuff. Not like we are in that way. Yikes. Oh well, this place is my next project. But really, we’ve been getting rid of stuff here too. Just not apparent yet!
Grade sevens are allowed to attend the Grade eight graduation dance, so Mary and I are off to it on Wednesday. Mary convinced me to volunteer to help out serving that night. Apparently there were not many volunteers, and they were in real need. I don’t mind to volunteer, but I wait until my kids invite me to, I don’t want to invade their privacy.
I’m feeling better. Hope to post a little more often. It’s fun for me to track what has been going on!
Was out in the pool for the first time this year today. Arm work back and forth and laps. Only 68 degrees, but OK once you get totally immersed. Hmm, guess you can say that about a lot of things we try in life.
Mom’s house was listed this week. Someone’s been through and interested already. Hope it goes soon, as it is hard to go in and out some days. But if it does take its time to sell, well, it does.
Had a scrapbook class with Vicki Boutin yesterday. Don’t care to try the one technique again (Perfect Pearls Pigments), but enjoyed the chipboard album class. Will use a lot of those techniques and built some of those periodically now. Interesting textures, earthy feel.
Behind posting some photos and layouts. Will get some up soon!!!
