OK, so what I really mean to say is “In my Old Backyard”. The subject is our daughter Stephanie, producer for Crush, a company who does special effects for commercials, tv shows, and now music videos. Stephanie, much to her starstruck father’s delight, was the producer of the last two R.E.M. videos – Hollow Man and Man-Sized Wreath. The videos have won awards.
When the girls come home, we seem to gravitate to the backyard, where everyone had tons of fun in childhood. We are very blessed with a large country village backyard, and we spent many, many years with all five children just playing and living out our lives.
Stephanie and her sisters Jacqueline and Nikki loved to ride their “big wheels” down the hill to our backyard, and swing on our swing set, as well as run to the next yard to visit their friend Dennis. Her youngest siblings, Chris and Mary loved to slide on their slide, play in the second-hand playhouse as well as swing on the same swing set as their older siblings. Dennis’ family had moved away, but he was nearly grown anyway when the younger siblings came along.
Yes, I annoy my family taking a lot of shots of what seems like the same thing. If they could only see that I capture the moment, the emotions, the light, the story … tell them, won’t you?
