Mary has taken up card-making, knitted scarf making and jewelry making like crazy the last couple of weeks. She is busy making handmade gifts for everyone on her list. She has a few things made for her godmother Sue, all of her teachers, family and friends. I asked her if I could post a few of her handmade “things” in the next little while. She humoured me by reluctantly agreeing. She probably figured I’d post it on Facebook as an alternate and tag her, this would be less embarassing! Ha ha.
Here is a necklace she made for her friend Alyssa who moved to the east coast recently. A bunch from the class are making a parcel of things to send her as a surprise. I think it’s really nice to let her know they still love her and think of her! I think the necklace is pretty marvelous. Mary is 13 years old and has been an old pro for about a week at jewelry making! The photo doesn’t do it justice, the necklace splits into 3 strands of tiny beads after the last purple bead on both sides. It’s wrapped up now and ready to go to the east coast, so I can’t get another photo!
I think she has made one for me too. I know the one I hope it is!
Can’t wait until Christmas!
Another modified Vicki Boutin kit featuring my daughter Nikki. Vicki’s class kits are awesome, but I like to add some of my own flourishes, or change up a bit so it is more my own, but I always keep a strong part of her design. Why mess with something good???
Here’s Nikki hanging out in the backyard with the rest of us at Easter this year!
This layout features our daughter Jacqueline at her Poppy’s place one Christmas morning. It is a slight variation on a Vicki Boutin design for a class she taught at Scrapfest U this month. I was lucky enough to attend the event and Vicki’s class.

Their kits are AWESOME!
This is a Vicki Boutin design with some slight variations. I took a class with Vicki at Scrapfest U last weekend . Vicki’s classes are fun, and you learn way more than the actual class and techniques you sign up for. Added plus –
Vicki is also a Canadian! Support the Canadian industry!
This layout features my terrific daughter Nikki.
Another Sketchy Thursday challenge!
Here’s their sketch for this week:
and here’s my take on it:
This layout features Stephanie, this past Thanksgiving, while she was playing SingStar Pop with Mary on her PS2.
Here’s a layout of Steph at our place at Thanksgiving. She was playing video games with her sister Mary, and humoured me by hamming it up for my camera.
The layout is from Ninabrook designs (www.ninabrookdesigns.com), called Laughter. Ninabrook recently made a huge announcement that they are selling their kits online to the general public, and no longer just to retailers. Great prices, great kits!
To see the kit as they present it, go to their website at the link above.
Here’s a layout of our son Chris (now 16) in the summer of 2002. He and his sister Mary went to Goodwin’s summer camp for a week with their friends Brennan and Jaden Curtis. These photos were taken their last day of camp.
This layout was super easy. I used the design of this Urban Lily paper (www.urbanlily.com) to embellish the photos. Used my Exacto knife to cut into the paper, then slide my photo into the cut. Paper is called Attitude from their To the Extreme Collection.
I was so happy to come across these photos the other day. That’s what families are for – memories!
Another great Sketchy Thursday sketch! Those girls do a great job. This week’s sketch is by their own Miss Diana.
Here’s my take on it:
