Wow, their blogs are freaking awesome too!!!
So happy, what a thrill, lots of new friends and inspiration!!!
My daughter Mary Pennington made these funky glasses for a spirit day at her high school. My son Chris Pennington tried them on the other night, and well, we had a bit of fun with them. I wanted to do a layout that was, well, a bit bizarre … I love to do whimsical layouts, and well, bizarre is fun too …
Some of you might know my passion for starburst papers – this is quite a bit darker than I usually use, but it is an awesome paper from the Bo-Bunny Block Party line. The embellishments are from Sassafrass (another fave of mine – why oh why can’t I find it for sale anywhere???) and from the Basic Grey Lime Rickey. The wind is painted with gesso and I’ve used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to add an overall sheen and some colour mixed with the white wind (which may not show so well in the photo).
I based the layout on a sketch by Sketchy Thursdays. Those girls and their sketches are awesome!!! I am trying out once again for a guest designer spot on their team with this layout!! Wish me luck, I need it!

When I got a message from Julie that I’d won the prize for the last challenge at These are a Few of My Favorite Things – a bunch of yummy Webster’s Pages Wonderfall Collection stuff donated by DT member Debbie!
I’ve got to check my lottery tickets!!!!
Scrapbooker’s Anonymous is a terrific challenge blog that I’ve discovered recently. They challenge their readers to use up items in their scrapbooking stash that they might not otherwise use. For the DT call that they recently had they challenged participants to use a stamp to make background paper, and also to make 3 embellishments with stamps. I used a script stamp to make some background paper to resemble a letter, I made an envelope with a stamped postmark, a stamped dressform and some titling done as an embellishment on my layout. This GORGEOUS paper is Timepiece by Bo Bunny. Hope you like it. Oh yes, the gorgeous timeless beauty is my mother Mary Allain Wride!!!!

My friend Lee Schertzing met me at Scrapfest this weekend and gave me this beautiful card she made me along with a beautiful zebra striped embellishment soft case:

What a great week!
First Julie Tucker-Wolek asked me to be May’s guest designer on These are a Few of my Favorite Things – well that was a great honour, and set my week off to a great start …
Then my layout below was chosen as a fave on Sketchy Thursdays!!!
And thirdly – well it is freaking SCRAPFEST tomorrow in Kitchener. Can’t wait to see what Lisa Furtney has in store for us!!! I am meeting my friends Lee, Terri and Dani for lots of fun!!!
(pop out to These are a Few of my Favorite Things – Julie has a great blog hop and challenge on right now!!!)
Diana and Heidi at Sketchy Thursdays and Julie at These are a Few of my Favorite Things have a couple of challenges going on that I wanted to get involved in. Sketchy Thursday’s challenge is to make a layout based on this sketch:
Julie’s challenge is to scrap about your favourite scrapbooking tools. My take on the two challenges, using Sassafrass Life Is Beautiful Fawnd of You, Too is below:
