Wish I’d coined the phrase “one river, many wells”, but I learned it from Matthew Fox’s book by the same name – meaning more or less – that there many varieties of spiritual nourishment but one source to draw it from. I study religion at Queen’s University and have found many similarities in beliefs and rituals between religions who consider themselves unique. Religion is certainly a subject that is passionate to many.
Anyway, our challenge this week at another Freaking scrappy challenge … is to scrap about our beliefs or philosophies – whether we scrap about a deep thought or something frivolous such as how you can put two socks into the laundry and only ever receive one back. Come on out to play to express your core beliefs or play along and have some light-hearted fun!! Here is my layout:
I used Fancy Pants Designs Expression About a Boy and religious symbols from many faith traditions. I also doodled gold swirls in between the streams of symbols to represent philosophies flowing from them all. (Unfortunately you cannot see the gold on the left side of the layout because of the lighting.)
Over at Scrapbookers Anonymous the girls have posted their new challenge to use 7 different ribbons in a layout. Lea and Theresa are all about using up our scrapbooking stash, and they sure do inspire me. My philosophy has become to buy less and use up more of my hoarded scrapbooking stash since I began playing along with their blog, and I sure do appreciate that they encourage that. Here is my layout for their latest challenge, which I am also using to play along with Bird is the Word’s “together” challenge:
For this layout I used Basic Grey Hello Lucious Simply Grand, Lemon Zest, Tartlett papers and embellishments from their Hello Lucious line!! I also used ribbon in a way that was inspired by Yvonne Yam on her blog! Thanks for the inspiration Yvonne!!!
