Happiness is playing along with Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … this month and every month. The August 1st challenge is to scrap about a pet from your youth, or a fave animal or zoo trip. The sketch challenge on the 15th is also worth playing. You have until 10 pm on the 31st of August to play along with both challenges.
And speaking of sketches, I played along with sketch 222 over at Creative Scrappers. Our designer Chiqui Gutierrez is also designing over there, so I’d thought I’d pay a visit and try out their challenge. I flipped sketch 222 and placed my elements on a diagonal and here is my result, using Scenic Route paper. This layout features our daughter Nikki Pennington:
We have two challenges right now at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … the 1st of the month prompt, and the 15th sketch challenge. Click here to go to the blog and play along with one or both of our challenges if you would like to have some inspiration and fun!
Bird is the Word has a new word – PEACE. This layout of our daughter Jacqueline Pennington and her niece (our granddaughter Emma) has the title PEACEFUL as those two young ladies look so very peaceful in the photos. I also used the sketch by Diana Fisher posted for August at Scrapfit for this layout.
Hey – we have a new sketch challenge over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … come on over to visit to play along! You’ll find the challenges amazing!!
I created this layout based on Once Upon A Sketch’s sketch for August. I flipped the sketch, and scrapped a photo of our daughter Stephanie Pennington with the Blue Jays mascot Ace during baseball season 2007. My journalling reads:
Since you were a little girl you’ve loved the Blue Jays!
and below the titling reads:
Baseball Season 2007
I used Fancy Pants About A boy Peace paper for the background and embellishments.
You should head over to Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … for the latest sketch challenge that was posted today. Don’t forget to also play along with the challenge from the first of the month also and scrap your pet or favourite animal. You have until the end of August at 10 pm to enter in either challenge.
This month Once Upon a Sketch has a sketch along with the challenge to scrap a season. I scrapped the summer season, where I journalled:
Our camping trip to Presqu’ile Provincial Park at the end of the summer season that you were a ranger – that season changed you …
I am also entering this in Scrapping the Music’s challenge 4 of their anniversary series of challenges where they are asking us to scrap the song “Summer Paradise” by Simple Plan. My journalling beside the kite on the far left of the layout reads “Our Summer Paradise Presqu’ile”.
Here is my layout, where I flipped OUAS sketch and featured my son Chris Pennington using My Mind’s Eye Follow your Heart Be Amazing Fly & Soar paper and embellishments.
It’s the 15th of the month, so it’s time for another sketch challenge over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … Head over to HERE to see the sketch and play along. The girls there are lovely, and they’ll make you very welcome!
My interpretation of the sketch features my daughter Mary Pennington while we were camping at Presqu’ile Provincial Park at the end of August 2010. I used Fancy Pants Celebrate Laugh and Make Merry papers and Celebrate Titles and Tags embellishments.
Cobber is a slang word for friend, companion, etc. in Australia – and my wonderful dog Cobber was a very, very dear friend. He was kind and gentle, and he would stay waiting for me whenever I asked him to – he would loyally wait outside the store while I shopped without being tied. My mother was nervous of animals in her house, but when I visited, she would allow him in to wait for me in her entrance way – she loved him so. That was a big step for my mother! He was my companion and such a blessing to me when I lived alone.
Over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … the challenge for 1 August is to scrap about a pet, so what better tribute could I give to Cobber??? Handling these photos brought back so many wonderful memories of my dear buddy. Come along and join in on the fun with us!!!
I used Basic Grey June Bug paper for this design!! The little dogs and flowers were cut from the paper and then I used foam pop dots to pop them up from the page.
