Loving the challenge over at SODAlicious this month, where they challenge their followers to art journal about superstition. Fabulous entries!
Superstition is an interest of mine, having been a student of religions. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines it as:
su·per·sti·tion
noun \ˌsü-pər-ˈsti-shən\
a belief or way of behaving that is based on fear of the unknown and faith in magic or luck : a belief that certain events or things will bring good or bad luck
Full Definition of SUPERSTITION
1a : a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation
b : an irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or God resulting from superstition
Well, I have a similar viewpoint of superstition and the limitations of our minds. Humans are predisposed to irrational thoughts provoked by ignorance. I don’t consider myself as above superstitious thoughts, I’m as human as anyone else. I’ve held on to completely ridiculous fears and beliefs for far longer than needed. Here’s my entry with a synopsis of my viewpoint:
