This month’s prompt at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge is to:
Scrap or art journal about a favourite pastime from your youth. Was it a sport, fishing, cycling, reading, or teasing your older brother? Use a photo of when you were young, a photo of the pastime, or whatever is appropriate!!!
One of my favourite pastimes in my youth (and now) is to ride my bicycle. My father bought me the bike in this photo second-hand (actually 4th hand) for 5 dollars. The bike was much too big for me when he gave it to me (I was 7 or 8 years old), and it intimidated me. Since I was the only one of we four kids in the family that had a two-wheeler bike, my brothers were only too happy to use it until I got the nerve to learn to ride it. It was probably a full year before I got the nerve to try it on my own, and once I did, I rarely got off the seat in daylight hours. The bike was pink with white trim, and was the best present my father ever gave me. When I was done with it after many years of enjoyable cruising, my father turned it into a stationary exercise bike for my mother. He was very handy with tools.
Here’s my layout for the challenge, using Sassafrass papers (my fave paper company of all time – sniff, sniff 😦 ):
Left to right: my twin brother Gary Wride, my sister Dale, my brother Wayne, me and my bike. Aren’t my glasses just the most glamorous thing you’ve seen????
