Here is a layout of my son Chris Pennington, who dressed up as the Nintendo character Ness from the game Earthbound for Hallowe’en this year. He had some fun going to the game store just down from his place, where people stopped by that evening dressed up as game characters. He did a great job of the costume, and of dyeing the hat he wore to go with it.
I used the Canadian paper line Bizous (BZoo) for the black strip, Crate Paper Farmhouse Collection Apple Pie for the yellow strip, and Cathie Allan and Canadian Scrapbooker’s Super Stock for the white background. I made this layout for Scrap Africa, whose challenge this month is to use a recycled item in a layout. My recycled item is the oval coaster I used as the base for the title of the layout. I also used the January 2014 Sketchy sketch made by Sue Sykes for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine as inspiration.
Some students at East Northumberland Secondary School, including my son Chris Pennington, got together to play some music at Chapters book store in Belleville on 25 November 2010 to raise a bit of money for the school library. A percentage of the store’s evening sales went towards books for the library.
What a great event it was – such talented kids – we were so proud of him – and all of them! Great music, great times!
Here is a layout I did for Canadian Scrapbooker magazine’s Sketchy feature of the evening using Cathie Allan and Canadian Scrapbooker’s Super Stock as the background for this layout. I fancy-cut around elements printed on Suzanne Carillo’s Bisous (Bzoo) PDQ Tag series of paper. I love the vibrant colours!!!! I was also inspired by the mood board over at Scrap Around the World this month:

Over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … we have our latest challenge and it is to:
Scrap about your first job. If you have photos of you from that era, include one, or any other photo that is significant about that time. Include a bit of journalling if you like of your memories. Did you like it? Hate it? Were you nervous?
You should come along and join us in this challenge!!
I used Bizous PDQRBW 4 paper and scrapped some photos of myself working at the Publication Production Centre at the Air Force base in Trenton. This was my third job, and my second job in the printing/journalism industry.
There’s another guest design team challenge over at Sketchy Thursdays, and here is my entry … again! Applicants were to use the sketch, the colours pink and green or red and tourquoise, make a list about something they love and use hearts in their layout. Always a fun challenge from these girls!!
My entry features my beloved granddaughter Brynn Zwanenburg. This photo of her is one of my favourites. I took it at a birthday party for her and her brother Kieran Zwanenburg at her other grandmother’s (Grandmaman Carole Maissoneuve) place a couple of years ago. I used bisous bzoo PDQ yum! paper for the background and some of my other scraps from my stash to complete the layout. I hope you enjoy it!
I’ve been lurking on Anna Bowkis’ blog Pencil Lines for a while now. Decided it was time to jump in with the inspiration her design team provided with Sketch 210 that they posted last night on the blog: http://www.pencillines.com/
Here’s the sketch:
I used bisous bzoo pdqtag-4 paper by Suzane Carillo, Kathy Allan’s 130 lb paper sold by Canadian Scrapbooker at Lisa Furtney’s Scrapfest in Oshawa this month, and my main model is my incredibly awesome granddaughter Brynn. Her brother Kieran is riding in the front on top of Poppy’s (Scott’s) shoulders. Coming soon – a new layout featuring Brynn’s equally incredibly awesome brother, Kieran!!
