The 15 March 2014 sketch challenge is up at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. And of course our 1 March challenge is still open to join in with. Come play along – we love new friends! You have until the end of March to play. The prompt challenge is to:
Scrap or art journal about a favourite song in from your teens. You can scrap some of the lyrics, or the title, or a photo of the band …
The sketch challenge is:
Meanwhile, it’s been fun looking around on the net for some challenges to spark my creativity.
I found the sketch and theme at Once Upon a Sketch, and decided to scrap a layout of my daughter Jacqueline Pennington. I also journalled using their theme:
You only live once but if you do it right once is enough.
I also incorporated the fun Bingo theme at Craft-Szafa this month. I’ve used the top line of the Bingo card – Flowers, Pearls and Metal Element (the metal elements are the brads in the centres of the flowers).
Another easy challenge to play along with this month is the challenge at Off the Rails Scrapbooking where the theme was ANYTHING GOES. What an easy one to play with!!! Very easy to consider this layout as a qualifying entry :).
Here’s my layout, following by a close-up of the YOLO theme embellishment and journalling:
There are still a few days to play along with our sketch at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. We are very excited to be back for our first challenge after taking a break since July. The team has contributed some awesome layouts interpreting the sketch, and we have some awesome entries into the challenge!!
Tonight I have a very fun, busy layout of a very fun, busy boy where I incorporated 4 challenges from around blogland to share with you. No wonder I am tired!!!
Craft-Szafa’s challenge is to use a frame – so I used a sweet translucent frame around one of the photos I used of my grandson Kieran Zwanenberg.
Sketchabilities’ challenge is to use their sketch #109 as inspiration. I did so! Karan’s sketches are always delicious!
Scrap Africa’s challenge is to use chipboard that you’ve altered. I altered the swooping large arrow under the photos using various acrylic paints and a black marker to darken the edges.
Scraps & Pieces Emporium’s challenge was to use the word NEW in the layout. I used the word in my title.
I used some K&Company embellishments and papers, acrylic paint, brush marker, Sassafrass borders and Making Memories frame and acrylic heart in creating this layout:
Loving the sketch at Sketchabilities . I used it for this layout based on the theme this month of Carnival over at Craft Szafa’s blog. Loving how the combination of these two challenges inspired this layout.
The photos are of a free performance given by Cirque de Soleil at Quebec City on 10 August 2011 – the day my son Chris turned 18. Scott, Mary, Chris and I spent the day in Quebec City to celebrate the big day – and ended the evening with this amazing performance. I used Graphic 45 Le Cirque Collection paper line for this layout. Hope you enjoy it!!
Craft Szafa and Bird is the Word have some great challenges this month. At Craft Szafa the theme is the end of fall – and they want some yellow in the layout, and at Bird is the Word, the word is inspire.
I have five children who inspire me and this layout features my youngest daughter, who is camping at Presqu’ile Provincial Park with me, as our family does every year. We participate in all the park programs while we are there, and this particular visit, we happened to be there for the Monarch Migration Weekend. Mary is a vibrant personality who is fierce about fairness, has a great artistic talent and has a great love of nature. She inspires me – as do all my children because of all their unique gifts!!
Here is Mary participating in the Monarch release. I used American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm papers for this layout.
