how my son Chris Pennington has grown. And I’ve discovered a blog that is new to me this past week or so called Bird is the Word. Their challenge this week is to use the word “amazing” in a layout. Well, our son went to his first prom this past week, and frankly, I found it amazing how he was transformed when he put on his grandfather’s tuxedo to wear for the event. It has been a year of changes for sure with him. Loving how he is turning out.
The sketch I used for this layout was from Sketchy Thursday’s challenge this week. I used a bit of Crate Paper Toy Box Collection Story Time paper, Basic Grey lettering, Jinni Bowlin pennant stickers Sassafrass paper and a border, and an October Afternoon Fly a Kite Wild Card.
Here is the sketch from Sketchy Thursday:
Here is my layout based on the sketch and on the challenge word from Bird is the Word:

Just back from the Great Lakes Mega Meet with my friend Colleen Halpern, then packing up my aunt’s apartment with her for 3 days. Was turning into my driveway last night at 9:30 when I realized – I HAVE BEEN GONE A WHOLE WEEK!
Holy cow. Way behind in my scrapping!!! Lol, did get a few layouts done while in Novi Michigan for the meet. And speaking of meet – well I met Jenni Bowlin and Melissa Frances – awesome ladies! Learned a thing or two as well from these and other ladies.
On the way home I stopped in Clinton, Ontario and took some photos of our old house. My dad was in the Canadian air force and had been posted there – some of my best childhood years were there. Went down to my old fishing hole – and around the neighbourhood. Took a few photos of my best friend when we were 10 years old’s home and some of the view she would have had from her porch. Can’t wait to get them posted for Karol. Hopefully tonight that will happen. She was such a dear friend and was just around the corner from me …
I’ll be back …
Had a great dinner out tonight for my birthday. Mmmmmmm bruschetta with feta at Paulo’s. We ordered two of them so that the four of us could all have a good feast before our main course …
Sketchy Thursdays has a great sketch this week:
Here is my take on it using some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Sassafrass borders, Jenni Bowlin chipboard sun painted with Tim Holtz’s Ranger Adirondack Metallics Acrylic Paint Dabber in Gold. Embellishments are ones I printed from the internet. Loving that Google …

Our son Chris Pennington asked his father to get the old turntable up and running so that he could listen to some of our old records. That kid has great taste in music, and enjoys the old classics. He had to agree, though, that the sound was a lot scratchier than what is available today.
My daughter Stephanie and her best friend Sheranda have been known as Snuppie and Goober since high school – or for short, Snup and Goob. My aunt Cara and I met up with them last fall in Toronto and took a few pictures of them while we ate lunch. I decided to scrap the best of the photos for a challenge that is taking place at Stuck?! Sketches! and at the Jenni Bowlin Studio blog (JBS Mercantile). Stuck?! Sketches! provided a sketch for the challenge, and JBS asked that those accepting their challenge use a grid in their layout. So glad that I could combine the two challenges in this layout!!!
Here is Stuck?! Sketches! sketch:
Here is my interpretation of it using Bo Bunny Decaf Dot with a My Little Shoebox diecut paper, Jenni Bowlin Brown Label Strip Stickers for journalling, and Fancy Pants Daydreams rub-ons:
