Scrap it with a Song has a cool challenge as usual this month. Once again there is a rock song and a pop song to choose from. I chose the song “Staring at the Sun” by Mika – and reflected that song title in my layout title. The layout features my wonderful grandson Kieran Zwanenburg.
There is a really fun challenge over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge this month – and we already have a few girls playing along! The challenge is to:
Use paper or embellishments you have had in your stash for a long time or you can scrap about something you have you have had for a long time. You can use one prompt or both – up to you!
The paper I used for this layout of my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg is from K and Company and I have had it in my stash for several years. I used to design for Scrapbookers Anonymous where Theresa Gillman and Lea Patterson encouraged their followers to use up supplies from their stash, instead of always buying new supplies. I always try to use up something old with every layout ever since I met Theresa and Lea. They have made a lasting impression on me!
Our new challenge is up at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge !!! Check it out!!! Also we have extended the deadline for applications for the design team!! More on the blog.
Meanwhile, over at that awesome blog Black with Two there is a new challenge:
And here is my take on it – featuring my awesome grandson Kieran Zwanenburg:
Come on out and meet the challenge!!! I love how it stretches me!
Come play along the last few days for both of the challenges at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. It’s always awesome to have old and new friends play along!! We also have a DT challenge, and we’d love to see your work!!!
I finally got a chance to play along with Stuck?! sketches and loved the boxed in look of the July 1 sketch this month. Instead of triangles, I used strips to create the look I wanted for my layout of my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg. I used Sassafrass Monstrocity paper for the layout.
We have a design team call over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – come on over and join in!
Also – at Black with Two they have a new challenge for July – lots of fun – go check it out for yourself!
I made this layout using the sketch over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge:
I used the colour scheme and the grid over at Punky Scraps as well I incorporated white space in my design as they suggested:
My layout features my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg and granddaughter Emma Delage:
We have a design team call at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – come on out to the blog and see how to apply!!!
Scrap Africa has a beautiful sketch challenge on right now:
Here is my interpretation of it with my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg using My Mind’s Eye Cut and Paste papers:
There are still a few days to play along with our sketch at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. We are very excited to be back for our first challenge after taking a break since July. The team has contributed some awesome layouts interpreting the sketch, and we have some awesome entries into the challenge!!
Tonight I have a very fun, busy layout of a very fun, busy boy where I incorporated 4 challenges from around blogland to share with you. No wonder I am tired!!!
Craft-Szafa’s challenge is to use a frame – so I used a sweet translucent frame around one of the photos I used of my grandson Kieran Zwanenberg.
Sketchabilities’ challenge is to use their sketch #109 as inspiration. I did so! Karan’s sketches are always delicious!
Scrap Africa’s challenge is to use chipboard that you’ve altered. I altered the swooping large arrow under the photos using various acrylic paints and a black marker to darken the edges.
Scraps & Pieces Emporium’s challenge was to use the word NEW in the layout. I used the word in my title.
I used some K&Company embellishments and papers, acrylic paint, brush marker, Sassafrass borders and Making Memories frame and acrylic heart in creating this layout:
Come join us at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge where our challenge this month is PASSION – what is yours?? Mine is my family, scrapbooking, quilting, my books/studies, photography and animal prints!
Here is my layout for the challenge, using My Mind’s Eye DillyDally “Best” Checkered paper on the woodgrain side. Come join us – you’ll find us a friendly and inspirational group.
Over at Scrapbookers Anonymous Lea and Theresa have another terrific challenge on!! The challenge is to use your neglected die-cut machine, or, if you don’t have one – to use up purchased die-cuts you have in your stash. I LOVED THIS CHALLENGE! Come and play along with us!
Here is my layout featuring my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg and using My Mind’s Eye Fly A Kit “Soar” Fly Paper:
Pencillines sketch 252 was used as inspiration!!
August’s challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous is to use up some of your stash of journalling spots. I used three circular spots as flowers in my layout – and three cuter little flowers there couldn’t possibly be than Kieran Zwanenburg, Emma Delage and Brynn Zwanenburg!!! I used Fancy Pants Designs Kraft Kuts Ledger, Owl Paper and Fairy Forest, along with jillibean Chilled Strawberry Soup whipped cream papers for this layout. I also incorporated some butterflies, as the challenge over at Get Picky is to be inspired by this image:
by Anne Pennington
If you haven’t played at Scrapbookers Anonymous – you should play this month – Theresa and Lea are awesomely encouraging!!
Don’t forget about our launch over at another Freaking scrappy challenge ... it’s going to be a blast!! If the launch is even a fraction as successful as the interest shown leading up to it, well, freaking OMG!!
