Scrap Around the World has an awesome mood board this month:
Here is my layout inspired by the pink colour in the mood board as well as the photo of the bedroom. The layout features my granddaughter Brynn Zwanenburg reading a book in our daughter Mary Pennington’s spare bed, and uses My Mind’s Eye Now and Then papers:
We have a design team call at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – come on out to the blog and see how to apply!!!
Scrap Africa has a beautiful sketch challenge on right now:
Here is my interpretation of it with my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg using My Mind’s Eye Cut and Paste papers:
True to form – I attended Scrapbooks and Cards Today’s Crop and Create in Cornwall last month with very little scrapbook paper other than kits that I put away to bring for scrapbooking events. Because I bring so little other paper, I have to be inventive in order to enter the contests. When I can, I use paper on hand from event grabbags, or purchase a new piece of paper. This background paper was from the event grabbag. Because I had so little on-hand to work with, I stamped a background, and stamped some embellishments so that I could enter the Colour Suite competition at the event. I managed to use every colour in the contest sample in this layout of my son Chris Pennington!
For the speech bubble – I adapted the layout of a stamp. The stamp had the words “just the facts” in a single line – I adapted it by inking one word at a time and stamping the words one under the other to fit the bubble that I had cut out of the paper. Just a few minutes of thought will let you create with what you have on hand.
I was very pleased with the results!! Another economical layout using scraps of paper for the embellishments, a few My Mind’s Eye enamel dots, and stamps!!

Wow, hard to believe it is already the end of September. I cannot believe how fast the weeks are passing, and how much is packed into them. We celebrated the marriage of our daughter Stephanie to Josh earlier this month, and, well, here it is close to the end of the month already – where did it go?
This layout features Stephanie and Josh, and I use My Mind’s eye Follow your Heart “Be Amazing” Adored paper for it. It is the layout I made to interpret the latest sketch we have over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge this month. You have until the last day of this month at 10 pm to enter this or the 1st of September challenge. As an added incentive this month and others to follow, every entry makes you eligible to be randomly drawn as our guest designer along with our featured guest designer on the blog. We really want to meet you and see your work – so pop on by the blog and play along with us!!
You should head over to Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … for the latest sketch challenge that was posted today. Don’t forget to also play along with the challenge from the first of the month also and scrap your pet or favourite animal. You have until the end of August at 10 pm to enter in either challenge.
This month Once Upon a Sketch has a sketch along with the challenge to scrap a season. I scrapped the summer season, where I journalled:
Our camping trip to Presqu’ile Provincial Park at the end of the summer season that you were a ranger – that season changed you …
I am also entering this in Scrapping the Music’s challenge 4 of their anniversary series of challenges where they are asking us to scrap the song “Summer Paradise” by Simple Plan. My journalling beside the kite on the far left of the layout reads “Our Summer Paradise Presqu’ile”.
Here is my layout, where I flipped OUAS sketch and featured my son Chris Pennington using My Mind’s Eye Follow your Heart Be Amazing Fly & Soar paper and embellishments.
Wow – I had a lot of inspiration for this layout! First of all, over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … we are challenging participants:
1 May is springtime, and time to be out in the gardens. Scrap something about your garden – how you love to be out in it, or what it means to you, or alternatively how you hate to be outside gardening at all. If you are not a gardener – you could also alternatively scrap about an outdoor sanctuary that you appreciate – perhaps your mother’s garden or a park????
If you haven’t played along with our challenges on the 1st and 15th of the month – you should. We are a friendly bunch, and our DT is absolutely inspirational.
Becky Fleck has posted an awesome sketch over at her Page Maps blog and asked participants to scrap a few themes. One theme is to create a layout about a place that’s special to you. Well, my garden is my sanctuary, and it is a very special place for me. Her sketch was also an inspiration for my layout. I followed it fairly closely for my design.
Meanwhile, those awesome ladies over at Scrapbooks and Cards Today blog have posted their latest Colour Suite challenge to use these colours in a layout:
I captured them all. The greys and black are in my chickadee photo, the pink in several papers, green in my butterfly and journalling spots, the rose in my titling, small roses and my flag on the right, and the orange in my pearl accents (see close up photos). Here is my layout using My Mind’s Eye Papers.
