There is another AWESOME challenge over at Black with Two. This challenge really stretches me creatively! Here is the sketch and instructions for October:
and here is my take on it – featuring my daughter Mary Pennington and Sassafrass embellishments:
Come play along with us!!!!
Come play along the last few days for both of the challenges at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. It’s always awesome to have old and new friends play along!! We also have a DT challenge, and we’d love to see your work!!!
I finally got a chance to play along with Stuck?! sketches and loved the boxed in look of the July 1 sketch this month. Instead of triangles, I used strips to create the look I wanted for my layout of my grandson Kieran Zwanenburg. I used Sassafrass Monstrocity paper for the layout.
Don’t forget that the 15 March 2014 sketch challenge is up at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. And of course our 1 March challenge is still open to join in with. Come play along – we love new friends! You have until the end of March to play.
I’ve been wanting to play along with Black With 2 since I discovered the blog a few weeks ago, and I finally had a few minutes to do so tonight. It’s a great challenge blog with a cute spin – you start with a predominantly black layout, add the colours from the mood board they provide, use their sketch as interpretation, and add other criteria for that challenge to your layout. This month’s challenge uses the colours Lemon and Thyme, the word Sunshine and a sketch. Here is my take on the March challenge using plain black cardstock, Sasafrass scrap pieces, and some Heidi Swapp embellishments and titling. I’ve used their sketch, colours, and the word Sunshine as instructed (top of the circle). My layout features my daughter Mary Pennington hamming it up for the camera:
Scrapbooker’s Anonymous just put their 15th of the month alphabet challenge up this morning – and this month’s mid-month challenge is the letter “e”. You can use a paperline or embellishments that begin with the letter “e”, or a theme of the letter “e”, or whatever you can imagine with the letter “e”. My layout uses Sassafrass Ellie’s Tale paper line. I LOVE SASSAFRASS EVERYTHING!!!
Meanwhile, over at Bird is the Word the word is TRUST. Well, as I say in my titling “Trust you to be WACKY” referring to my daughter Mary Pennington, who, in this picture is at her sister Jacqueline Pennington’s wedding shower in 2006 and is just hamming it up (as could be trusted to happen) for the photo op.

We have a new challenge over at another Freaking scrappy challenge … and it is to scrap a treasured Thanksgiving memory for you, DO NOT USE THE COLOUR ORANGE anywhere in the layout. Ha ha!! If you do not celebrate Thanksgiving – how about scrapping what you are thankful for, or why not scrap a family reunion or gathering????
The photos of my layout look quite orange – but I’ve used Sassafrass Paper Crush, and the papers are a golden yellow.
I am grateful for my children. Since I was a child myself, I always wanted to have 6 children, I am blessed with 5!!!
Here is my layout for the challenge:
And over at Stuck Sketches they have added a new sketch for December. Here is my take on the sketch, again using Sassafrass Paper Crush papers:
Here’s my interpretation of the sketch this week at Sketchy Thursdays featuring my daughters Stephanie Pennington and Mary Pennington, using awesome freaking Sassafrass Marmalade papers!!! Babycakes Snookum Pie … Steph’s pet name for her baby sister …
The Sassafrass Blog has their August challenge on right now and that is to use 3 Sassafrass alphabets in a layout. I used Yellow Paper, Green Graph and Hog Heaven.
Don’t forget that we’ve launched the first challenge at another Freaking scrappy challenge … and we are proud of the first prompt. Come on over … be stretched and inspired … make friends and have some fun!!!

Today (13th July 2011) is the last day to apply as a guest designer for the premiere challenge at another freaking scrappy challenge … – we are launching the challenge on the 30th of July. We will have a few guest designers for the first challenge, then we will put a call out for a more permanent design team. Come and check out the blog – a lot of excitement has been generated, and we haven’t even really started!!!!
The Sassafrass blog has posted their latest challenge – to scrap a layout using more than one of their lines of paper. Well, I freaking love their line, and love to mix their papers – so I couldn’t wait to start on this challenge. The layout I post below uses Sassafrass Anthem, Yummy and Serepdipity Happy Place lines of paper, Bungle Jungle border, along with Pocket Full of Rosies and Anthem stickers.
Scrapping the Music challenges their followers to scrap the song “Blue Skies” by Willie Nelson. This layout features my son Chris Pennington enjoying some time at one of the rock beaches at Presqu’ile Provincial Park, one of our favourite places to camp each summer. You can see the joy on Chris’ face, he is just happy to be there. The layout is based on the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays this week:
