You should head over to Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge … for the latest sketch challenge that was posted today. Don’t forget to also play along with the challenge from the first of the month also and scrap your pet or favourite animal. You have until the end of August at 10 pm to enter in either challenge.
This month Once Upon a Sketch has a sketch along with the challenge to scrap a season. I scrapped the summer season, where I journalled:
Our camping trip to Presqu’ile Provincial Park at the end of the summer season that you were a ranger – that season changed you …
I am also entering this in Scrapping the Music’s challenge 4 of their anniversary series of challenges where they are asking us to scrap the song “Summer Paradise” by Simple Plan. My journalling beside the kite on the far left of the layout reads “Our Summer Paradise Presqu’ile”.
Here is my layout, where I flipped OUAS sketch and featured my son Chris Pennington using My Mind’s Eye Follow your Heart Be Amazing Fly & Soar paper and embellishments.
… for my layout below.
Check it out here and here !!!!!
… so encouraging …
Today (13th July 2011) is the last day to apply as a guest designer for the premiere challenge at another freaking scrappy challenge … – we are launching the challenge on the 30th of July. We will have a few guest designers for the first challenge, then we will put a call out for a more permanent design team. Come and check out the blog – a lot of excitement has been generated, and we haven’t even really started!!!!
The Sassafrass blog has posted their latest challenge – to scrap a layout using more than one of their lines of paper. Well, I freaking love their line, and love to mix their papers – so I couldn’t wait to start on this challenge. The layout I post below uses Sassafrass Anthem, Yummy and Serepdipity Happy Place lines of paper, Bungle Jungle border, along with Pocket Full of Rosies and Anthem stickers.
Scrapping the Music challenges their followers to scrap the song “Blue Skies” by Willie Nelson. This layout features my son Chris Pennington enjoying some time at one of the rock beaches at Presqu’ile Provincial Park, one of our favourite places to camp each summer. You can see the joy on Chris’ face, he is just happy to be there. The layout is based on the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays this week:
Here is my take on the sketch:

At Scrapping the Music this week the challenge is to scrap the song “Stand by Me”. I’ve been meaning to scrap along with Scrapping the Music’s challenges for some time now, and finally I have. Their designers turn out some awesome layouts.
The theme “stand by me” was full of possibilities. I had a photo of 3 of my girlfriends and I at the reception after Mom’s funeral and was thinking of scrapping that photo – those old girlfriends were standing by me in my time of need. I might still scrap that photo using that type of theme …
However, I changed my mind when I saw this photo of Mom and I. I had discovered it a year or so before Mom died, and had it enlarged and put it in a Mother’s Day layout in my very early days of scrapping (ha ha, early it’s not even quite 3 years I’ve been scrapping …). Mom saw the layout, and fell in love with the photo. She had forgotten it had ever existed so the photo’s sudden appearance took her completely by surprise. For Mother’s Day that same year I had it enlarged again and put into a beautiful frame for her. Sadly, that photo and frame is now mine … we stood by each other our whole lives. I have no regrets.
The paper is from DCWV’s Vintage Collage Stack, embellishments cut from same and from K & Company’s Serafera line.

Yeah, and another sunburst paper – I freaking love them!!!!
