Busy and happy New Year!!! It is going to be an awesome year, I am sure.
Over at Scrapbookers Anonymous they are challenging us to mask using paint, glimmer mist, or ink. It is a fun challenge and I love the results I had. You should come and play with us!!! I used my Copic markers to colour in my stamped images. The photo is of my eldest daughter, Nikki Pennington!
Meanwhile, over at another Freaking Scrappy challenge … the challenge is to scrap a Christmas memory from the past – a Christmas from your childhood – incorporate a photo, a momento or something or someone that represents that time for you, maybe use a photo of a gift you received !!!! If you do not celebrate Christmas – scrap a memory of another holiday that is special to you. Here is my layout using Basic Grey Wassail collection of papers and embellishments, and using Sketchy Thursday’s latest sketch as inspiration for my design:
The photo is one of my twin brother Gary and I with our mother on our second Christmas. He was such a great little buddy. I miss him.
Don’t forget our launch is on the 30th for another freaking scrappy challenge... We’ve already launched our technique twenty-second – go on over here to check it out!!
Sketchy Thursdays has a challenge on right now for a guest DT member. Here is their sketch for the challenge:
Here is my interpretation of the sketch using Cosmo Cricket Salt Air Sea Garden and Cosmo Cricket Upcycle Repeat. The layout features my daughter Mary Pennington at Mazinaw Lake at Bon Echo Provincial Park.
… for my layout below.
Check it out here and here !!!!!
… so encouraging …
Today (13th July 2011) is the last day to apply as a guest designer for the premiere challenge at another freaking scrappy challenge … – we are launching the challenge on the 30th of July. We will have a few guest designers for the first challenge, then we will put a call out for a more permanent design team. Come and check out the blog – a lot of excitement has been generated, and we haven’t even really started!!!!
The Sassafrass blog has posted their latest challenge – to scrap a layout using more than one of their lines of paper. Well, I freaking love their line, and love to mix their papers – so I couldn’t wait to start on this challenge. The layout I post below uses Sassafrass Anthem, Yummy and Serepdipity Happy Place lines of paper, Bungle Jungle border, along with Pocket Full of Rosies and Anthem stickers.
Scrapping the Music challenges their followers to scrap the song “Blue Skies” by Willie Nelson. This layout features my son Chris Pennington enjoying some time at one of the rock beaches at Presqu’ile Provincial Park, one of our favourite places to camp each summer. You can see the joy on Chris’ face, he is just happy to be there. The layout is based on the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays this week:
Here is my take on the sketch:

The monochromatic madness continues – seems like the last challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous has not left my blood … here is my third monochromatic layout since July’s challenge at SA was announced …
This time I based my layout on the latest sketch at Sketchy Thursdays:
I used Sassafrass Whale of a Tale Papers for my layout which features our eldest daughter Nikki Pennington. She’s a fun girl, and she really is unpredictable. She will do and say the wackiest things sometimes…

Don’t forget about the launch of my new challenge site – another freaking scrappy challenge … – we are looking for guest designers for the launch on 30th July, then we’ll be putting out a design team call. Come check it out!!!
What a thrill last week to have been chosen as a Fave at Sketchy Thursdays for my Mary Poppins layout! Was such a pleasure to do that layout, it brought so many happy memories back of my childhood and my mother taking me to that movie when we lived at the base in Marville, France. But that is not the BEST thing to happen in a while, this week was EVEN BETTER!!!!
Baby Emma Olivia Danielle Delage was born last night (June 15) at 9:13. She weighted 7 lbs 10 oz. She is perfect!!!! Granny loves her so very much!!! Mary and I went up to the hospital last night to meet her and we took some cute photos!!!
how my son Chris Pennington has grown. And I’ve discovered a blog that is new to me this past week or so called Bird is the Word. Their challenge this week is to use the word “amazing” in a layout. Well, our son went to his first prom this past week, and frankly, I found it amazing how he was transformed when he put on his grandfather’s tuxedo to wear for the event. It has been a year of changes for sure with him. Loving how he is turning out.
The sketch I used for this layout was from Sketchy Thursday’s challenge this week. I used a bit of Crate Paper Toy Box Collection Story Time paper, Basic Grey lettering, Jinni Bowlin pennant stickers Sassafrass paper and a border, and an October Afternoon Fly a Kite Wild Card.
Here is the sketch from Sketchy Thursday:
Here is my layout based on the sketch and on the challenge word from Bird is the Word:
